‘A Beating Followed By An Execution’: Another ICE Killing On Minneapolis Streets
Video shows agents beating a man before shooting him several times
A second killing in just weeks on the streets of Minneapolis at the hands of federal agents took place Saturday, with this latest incident once again prompting another direct appeal to Donald Trump from Minnesota’s governor.
Video taken from across the street and posted to social media appears to show a half a dozen or so masked federal agents wrestling a man to the ground, punching him. Then there is a shot, then several others, until he is lying completely still.
“Initial report is that two observers got into a shoving match with eight agents, one observer was wrestled to the ground, and then an ICE agent pulled out a sidearm and shot the man on the ground five times,” according to a post from Will Stancil, a Minnesota man who has been posting about ICE activity online.
This is the second killing of a Minneapolis resident in recent weeks, following the fatal shooting of Renee Nicole Good by a federal identified as Jonathan Ross.
Federal agents with US Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) and related agencies have swarmed into the Twin Cities area of Minnesota in recent weeks, leaving chaos and violence in their wake.
This latest killing unleashed a fresh outcry, including from Minnesota’s Democratic governor, Tim Walz.
“I just spoke with the White House after another horrific shooting by federal agents this morning. Minnesota has had it. This is sickening,” Walz posted Saturday soon after the incident. “The President must end this operation. Pull the thousands of violent, untrained officers out of Minnesota. Now.”
Others appeared to confirm what can be seen in the video.
“from what I can see, the video shows a beating followed by an execution,” posted Leah Litman, a University of Michigan law professor and popular podcaster on legal issues.
Another well-known attorney and former FBI agent, Asha Rangappa, posted: “I am watching what is happening in Minneapolis on Ali Velshi and one of the ICE officers (off camera) literally says, ‘It’s like Call of Duty. Pretty cool huh?’ as they shoot whatever it is they are shooting. Agents walking around, guns unholstered for no reason. This is insanity.”
