‘A Really Great Imitation of Marjorie Taylor Greene’: MSNBC Host’s Trans Parent Blasts Mace
A prominent journalist in her own right, Tur condemns Republican’s performative outrage
The transgender parent of a prominent MSNBC host appeared on rival network CNN to blast Republican Rep Nancy Mace’s obsession with trans women in public restrooms.
Zoey Tur’s daughter, Katy, is a fixture on MSNBC as a host and reporter. Zoey Tur, who built her own career as a successful journalist, was interviewed on CNN regarding the congresswoman from South Carolina’s recent outbursts over the first transgender woman elected to Congress to be potentially sharing the same bathroom at the US Capitol.
Mace introduced a resolution barring trans women — including Rep-elect Sarah McBride (D-Del) — from women’s restrooms on the House side of the Capitol. Ultimately, Republican House Speaker Mike Johnson decided on his own to prevent McBride and other trans women from the restrooms.
Mace has glommed onto the issue, using it for fundraising and posting about it hundreds of times on social media.
It’s performative outrage, according to Tur, who was the helicopter pilot who followed celebrity OJ Simpson in his white Bronco chase on a California highway in 1994.
“The politics should be out of this and, um, you know, Nancy Mace to me looks like she‘s doing a really great imitation of Marjorie Taylor Greene,” Tur said, referring to the far-right Republican congresswoman from Georgia. “You know that‘s what she sounds like. You know she‘s running around between UFO hearings and and now taking on the bathroom.
“The bathroom thing as a grift to make money. It works,” Tur added. “You can‘t go after gays or gay marriage anymore really? Because you know the fundraising, you couldn‘t fundraise or raise over that any longer. So they found themselves the transgender issue.”
