‘American People Have Been Brainwashed’: MTG Calls Out Fox News as ‘Propaganda’
Israel-Iran conflict cracks Trump’s MAGA base
Republican congresswoman Marjorie Taylor Greene has once again proven the old adage, “Even a broken clock is right twice a day.”
The Georgia Republican has publicly — and correctly, in this case — labeled media mogul Rupert Murdoch’s Fox News cable network and New York Post newspaper as “propaganda.”
What caused Greene to correctly describe Murdoch’s properties as propaganda, is the ongoing conflict between Iran and Israel, and the potential for the United States to become involved militarily.
The possibility of Donald Trump ordering the US military to enter the conflict on the side of Israel has cleaved the Republican party and Trump’s MAGA base, with Trump allies lining up on opposite sides of that debate.
Greene, a stalwart supporter of Trump’s, clearly is among those in MAGA who want to keep the United States out of foreign wars.
She spoke up this week on the program hosted on right-wing media by former Republican congressman and failed Trump choice for attorney general, Matt Gaetz.
“We’ve watched for decades propaganda news. I’ll call out Fox News and the New York Post. They’re known to be the neocon network news,” she said. “We have propaganda news on our side just like the left does and the American people have been brainwashed into believing that America has to engage in these foreign wars in order for us to survive, and it’s absolutely not true.”
Greene, however, is not the only Republican lawmaker making their feelings known about this issue.
Just as reliable Trump ally, Sen Lindsey Graham, of South Carolina, has spoken out on the opposite side, in favor of direct US military intervention.
Graham urged Trump on Thursday night to go “all in” in support of Israel.
It remains to be seen how much damage this debate ultimately will have on Trump’s right-wing coalition.
