As Republicans Root For COVID, Supply Issues And Putin 'This Party Is Anti-American'
Tucker Carlson said to be seeking interview with Vladimir Putin
The sort of right-wing propaganda emanating from Republicans and Fox News have become problematic and “anti-American,” according to political pundits across the spectrum.
This is true as personalities on Fox News appear to be rooting for the spread of COVID-19 and continued supply-chain and other economic woes, as well as for autocratic Russian leader Vladimir Putin, who may well soon invade neighboring sovereign Ukraine.
The recent noxious propaganda is merely the continuation of what's often been misinformation or disinformation from the political right aimed at hurting President Biden's national vaccination efforts, as well as trying to spin economic news which also will hurt the Democratic president.
“This party has become honestly the party — they’re pro-COVID at this point. They are rooting for everything, whether it’s Russia or COVID that will hurt Biden,” political commentator and radio host Stephanie Miller said in an on-air interview with MSNBC host Michael Steele. “I mean, they’re rooting for supply chain issues because they think it’s bad for Biden. That’s anti-American, Michael. This party is anti-American. It is the only way to say it.”
Miller pointed a finger at the right-wing cable network, Fox News.
“The fact that Sean Hannity was the cooler head on January 6, I mean, that’s what — why I think what they do on Fox News, and this covers COVID, too, Michael, it’s close to [shouting] ‘fire’ in a crowded theater,” Miller added, referring to Fox News’ star host. “You know, they promote violence by promoting this big lie like we saw on January 6. I think they have blood on their hands regarding COVID. They make all these people COVID heroes, anti-vaxxers that then die of Covid, and then you never hear about them again on Fox News. So, you know, while we can laugh about it, Michael, I think it is very serious, and I think Fox News is poison in the body politic.”
Steele, a former Republican lieutenant governor of Maryland and a one-time chairman of the Republican National Committee, agreed about Fox News.
“It’s being reported that Fox News and Tucker Carlson are working to secure an interview with Vladimir Putin. The Daily Beast reports the Kremlin representatives actually think this would be a good thing for Putin,” Steele said.
