Biden Brags About Marjorie Taylor Greene Comparing Him to FDR: ‘Well, Yeah’
Congresswoman's remarks to far-right gathering became Democrat's official ad
A month after President Biden's reelection campaign turned remarks made by Rep Marjorie Taylor Greene into a clever ad, Biden's still bragging about the Georgia Republican’s comments.
Greene last month was speaking to a far-right audience when she began comparing Biden's agenda to that of his Democratic predecessors, Franklin D Roosevelt and Lyndon Johnson.
Given the far-right crowd to which she was speaking, Greene meant her words as disparagement. However Biden and his campaign embraced her remarks as an ironic endorsement of his effectiveness by weaving them into a public campaign video.
Biden wryly referred to Greene's comments Tuesday while speaking at a visit to Milwaukee, Wis, touting his economic record.
“Folks, every Republican voted against our clean energy investment known as the Inflation Reduction Act. The vast majority voted against the bipartisan infrastructure law. But that didn’t stop them from claiming credit for protecting the health of their constituents by getting rid of the lead pipes or putting to work in building new roads and bridges,” Biden said. “Look, I think the vast majority of my Republican colleagues in the Senate know better. We got to stop the partisanship. We got to stop this stuff. This legislation they oppose and attack is now the greatest thing to come to their states.
“You have Marjorie Taylor Greene — the very quiet lady from Georgia. Well, she’s talked about, ‘What Biden’s doing is what Roosevelt did, what Kennedy did!’ Well, yeah,” he added.
