Biden's Campaign Promises A Mixed Bag At Halfway Point
Politifact tracks progress towards promises
President Biden can lay claim to making impressive strides towards accomplishing major campaign promises in some areas — but coming up short on others.
That's the status of a variety of Biden promises, according to the latest tracking by the fact-checking website Politifact, as the president reached the two-year mark Friday, of his four-year term in office.
In all, Biden's kept 25 key promises — or 25 percent of the total — and has broken just one promise, according to Politifact.
Most of his campaign vows are either stalled — 32 percent — or in the world, at 35 percent.
One key area of success for the president has been in the area of COVID-19, as he vowed to get the pandemic under control.
Another clear area of success has been in veterans' access to healthcare.
Some of those where progress has been made — but more work must be done — include spurring job creation in the automotive sector
… and in federal assistance to law enforcement.
And yet some others have stalled completely, mostly apparently due to the tight legislative environment in which the Biden administration has been working with exceedingly narrow Democratic margins in Congress.
That extends to Biden's promise to end pay discrimination.
