BREAKING: ICE Involved In Another Shooting Death In Maine
Latest killing less than a week after Lorenzo Salgado Araujo was shot to death by agents
Federal agents with US Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) were involved in a shooting Monday morning in Maine, according to multiple news reports and video from the scene.
One person is reported dead following a shooting involving ICE agents in Biddeford, Maine.
It’s the second killing of an individual by ICE agents within a week, after Mexican national Lorenzo Salgado Araujo was shot to death last Tuesday in Houston, Texas.
Biddeford is a town of about 22,000 residents in the Portland area.
According to news sources, the area around the shooting was closed Monday morning after the shooting at about 8: a.m. Police confirmed the closure to a local TV news crew.
Police said there was no threat to the public.
That news crew reported that they saw Maine State Police and the FBI at the scene along with the Biddeford Police Crime Scene Unit.
“A person was killed. ICE was involved. State Police and the Department of Public Safety are now on scene to gather details and would expect the FBI to investigate as well ... I will provide further updates, as they are relayed to me,” Maine state House Speaker Ryan Fecteau said, according to social media.
Although it’s received much less national attention than the Trump administration’s brutal immigration crackdown earlier this year in Minneapolis, Minn, Maine also has been living under an extended presence of ICE and other immigration agents.
