CDC Cuts Quarantine Time As Republicans Clearly Lie About Biden's COVID Fight
Quarantine down to 5 days in most cases
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) cut its quarantine period for COVID-19 patients in half Monday, the same day that the Republican National Committee (RNC) embarked on a deliberate campaign of lies and disinformation about President Biden's fight against the pandemic.
“Given what we currently know about COVID-19 and the Omicron variant, CDC is shortening the recommended time for isolation from 10 days for people with COVID-19 to 5 days, if asymptomatic, followed by 5 days of wearing masks when around others,” the CDC said in a statement. “The change is motivated by science demonstrating that the majority of SARS-CoV-2 transmission occurs early in the course of illness, generally in the 1-2 days prior to onset of symptoms and 2-3 days later.”
SARS-CoV-2 is the scientific name for COVID-19.
Meanwhile, the RNC and several Republican members of Congress released a deceptively edited video of Biden which creates the false impression that Biden is giving up on battling COVID.
However, what the president actually said is contained in this clip:
“Look, there is no federal solution. This gets solved at the state level,” Biden said, specifically in response to a request on a video meeting with Arkansas’ Republican governor, Asa Hutchinson for federal flexibility for state-level solutions.
On the call, Hutchinson told Biden that he's “enjoyed working with you … and appreciate your leadership.”
