Legendary guitarist “Little Steven” Van Zandt has joined Pennsylvania Democrat John Fetterman to publicly troll Fetterman's Republican opponent for a US Senate seat, Dr Mehmet Oz.
Fetterman, Pennsylvania's current lieutenant governor, teamed up with Van Zandt, who's probably best-known as a member of celebrated New Jersey rocker Bruce Springsteen's E Street Band.
In a brief online video, Van Zandt tweaks Oz, who has been accused of carpetbagging in the Keystone State for the purposes of the November election while actually also living across the state line in New Jersey.
The video, released Wednesday, is captioned, “NJ's own @StevieVanZandt has a VERY special message for Dr. Oz!! So Dr. Oz just fuhgeddaboudit!”
“Yo! Dr Oz! Stevie VZ here! Whaddya doing in Pennsylvania? Everybody knows you live in New Jersey, and you're just using your in-laws' address over there,” Van Zandt said, speaking to camera and addressing Oz. “And you do not wanna mess around with John Fetterman. Trust me. You're a little outta your league. No one wants to see you get embarrassed.
“So come on back to Jersey where you belong,” Van Zandt continued, playfully. “And we'll have some fun, eh? We'll go to the beach. We’ll go surfing. C'mon.”
Public opinion polls give Fetterman a widening lead over Oz.
Senate Democrats are defending their razor-thin, 50-50 majority in the upcoming midterm elections and holding onto that majority could well come down to Fetterman flipping what is now retiring Republican Sen Pat Toomey's seat.
