CNN’s Collins Fact-checks Donald Trump Once Again
Host debunks claim that former president’s supporters are blocked from NY courthouse
Kaitlan Collins is developing a reputation as something of a real-time fact-checker of Donald Trump’s fabulist claims.
The CNN host fought back last year against a fusillade of falsehoods from the former president during the ill-advised town hall special she hosted for the network.
She was at it again Friday, this time on social media, debunking Trump’s false contention that such the police presence around the courthouse in New York where he presently standing trial is so huge that throngs of his supporters are blocked from publicly displaying their devotion.
Trump — on trial for an alleged scheme to falsify documents to cover up hush-money payments to a porn star with whom the former president is said to have had a dalliance, in an attempt to influence the 2016 presidential election — posted his dishonest claim on his personal social media site.
“I’m at the heavily guarded Courthouse. Security is that of Fort Knox, all so that MAGA will not be able to attend this trial, presided over by a highly conflicted pawn of the Democrat Party. It is a sight to behold! Getting ready to do my Courthouse presser. Two minutes!”
The truth is very different, however.
And Collins clearly and calmly exposed Trump’s falsehoods in her own post on X (formerly Twitter).
“Again, the courthouse is open the public. The park outside, where a handful of his supporters have gathered on trials days, is easily accessible,” she said.
