DeSantis, Republicans Intend to Spend Florida Infrastructure Cash on Everything...But Infrastructure
"Floridians are suffering at the hands of politicians like this,” state lawmaker says
Florida Republican Gov. Ron DeSantis, and other Florida Republicans, have some very specific ideas on how they want to spend the Sunshine State's share of federal funds coming to the state as a result of passage of President Biden's bipartisan infrastructure plan.
Except that none of it actually will be on Florida infrastructure.
The plan for the money due Florida as a result of the infrastructure bill Biden signed into law last month was made public as the result of a hidden camera encounter with Florida state legislator Randy Fine and Lauren Windsor.
Windsor is known for coaxing secret, or previously unknown information from Republicans using her hidden camera approach.
In speaking to Windsor, Fine admits that DeSantis and Florida Republicans intend not to upgrade and refurbish the state’s roads, bridges and other vital infrastructure.
Rather, they plan use the federal cash to pay for tax cuts and boosting Florida’s reserve funds.
“What a joke — we’ll take all of Biden’s money, but won’t call it Biden’s money and we’ll use it for tax breaks (mostly corporate tax breaks!!) & then put it in reserves for more tax breaks down the road. Meanwhile Floridians are suffering at the hands of politicians like this,” tweeted Florida state legislator Anna Eskamani.

This is simply wrong. As a Floridian, I personally love DeSantis. The reason we wouldn’t spend it on roads and bridges is because we already have some of the best roads and bridges in the country. We don’t waste our money on dumb policies like blue states
