‘Digging Herself in a Hole’: White House Reacts to Noem’s ‘Disturbing’ Suggestion that Biden’s Dog Be Killed
South Dakota governor murdered her own young puppy, Cricket
White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre pushed back sharply on South Dakota Gov Kristi Noem’s idea that President Biden’s dog be killed.
Noem, long a rumored potential pick to be Donald Trump’s running mate, has come under a firestorm of criticism over the her admission that she murdered her puppy, Cricket, and a family goat.
Rather than apologize, the Republican not only has doubled down on the depravity of her animal killings, but also suggested that Biden’s beloved German Shepherd, Commander, be put down as well.
Noem confessed to her shocking killing of animals in her forthcoming book. It’s the same book in which the governor writes that if she were president, she’d ensure Commander “was nowhere on the grounds.”
“What would I do if I was president on the first day in office in 2025? Thanks for asking. I happen to have a list. The first thing I’d do is make sure Joe Biden’s dog was nowhere on the grounds (‘Commander, say hello to Cricket for me’),” she wrote.
Commander was involved in a number of biting incidents with White House Secret Service, before being sent elsewhere to live.
Jean-Pierre condemned Noem’s casual suggestion of death for the presidential pooch.
“We find her comments from yesterday disturbing. We find them absurd. And this is a country that loves dogs. And you have a leader talking about putting dogs down, killing them,” she said Monday during her regular White House briefing. “And that’s a disturbing statement to say. I would say to her, she should probably stop digging herself in a hole.”
