‘DO NOT Let Them Twist Your Words and Intimidate You’: Kinzinger Tells Trump Opponents Not to Fold
Former Republican congressman is supporting Biden for reelection
Donald Trump’s supporters and allies will try to use Saturday’s attempt on his life to shut down criticism of the former president ahead of the November election.
But those who oppose Trump’s attempt to return to the White House mustn’t let that happen.
That’s according to a former Republican congressman who is backing President Biden for reelection.
Federal law enforcement authorities have identified Thomas Matthew Crooks, 20, of Bethel Park, Pa, as the gunman who shot at Trump Saturday just a few minutes into his speech at a campaign rally in Butler Pa.
The former president reportedly was treated at a local hospital, released and within about 24 hours could be seen golfing.
Trump supporters, however, will attempt to use the shooting as a political tool to dissuade opponents from criticizing the Republican candidate, according to former Rep Adam Kinzinger, who was one of two Republicans who sought to hold Trump accountable for his actions from the January 6, 2021, attack on the US Capitol.
“The Trump campaign and surrogates will try to intimidate Biden supporters from going after the former President politically,” Kinzinger, who has gone so far as to solicit contributions to the Biden campaign, posted on social media Monday. “Do not let up. Trump is a threat to democracy and he must be stopped. Every rational person knows that means politically. DO NOT let them twist your words and intimidate you.
“Trump must be beaten at the ballot box,” he added.
