E Jean Carroll Speaks Out: She Plans to Use $83M on ‘Something Donald Trump Hates’
Jury awarded writer because the former president repeatedly defamed her
Having just won her stunning $83.3 million verdict against him, E Jean Carroll plans to spend the money on “something Donald Trump hates.”
That's just one thing that the well-known writer has been saying now that she’s speaking out about last week's verdict in which a Manhattan jury awarded her a huge judgement. The jury ordered the former president to pay Carroll such a huge amount in damages because he repeatedly defamed her, after sexually abusing her years ago.
A judge last year found that Trump raped Carroll.
This week, the writer and former advice columnist began speaking out in a series of TV interviews.
Speaking with George Stephanopoulos, of ABC News, Carroll said, “I don't want to waste money. Well, I do have an idea. I’d like to give the money to something Donald Trump hates. If it will cause him pain for me to give money to certain -- to certain things, that's my -- ”
“Like?” Stephanopoulos asked.
“Well, perhaps a fund for the women who have been sexually assaulted by Donald Trump,” she answered.
Carroll was in a humorous mood when she appeared on MSNBC host Rachel Maddow’s program Monday evening.
“I have such, such great ideas for all the good I’m going to do with this money. First thing, Rachel, you and I are going to go shopping,” she said. “We’re going get completely new wardrobes, new shoes, motorcycle for Crowley, new fishing rod for Robbie,” she added, referring to her attorneys.
“Rachel, what do you want? Penthouse? It’s yours, Rachel!”
Attorney Shawn Crowley finally had to inject by saying, “That’s a joke.”
Perhaps more seriously, Carroll expressed an interest in campaigning for Trump’s likely opponent in the November election as he seeks to return to the White House.
In an interview with CBS News, she was asked, “Have you heard from Joe Biden's campaign arm about potentially campaigning against the former President Donald Trump?"
“No,” Carroll answered, but added, “I'll do anything I can.”
