‘Elon Musk Said that Donald Trump Is in the Epstein Files‘: Democrat Dares Records Release
Administration should live up to its promises, Raskin says
With Donald Trump’s MAGA base in open rebellion over records involving the late sexual predator Jeffrey Epstein, one of Trump’s longest-standing Democratic antagonists is essentially taunting the president and senior members of his administration to release those documents.
Rep Jamie Raskin, of Maryland, has been facing off against Trump since leading the second impeachment against him during Trump’s first term in office.
And Raskin was on national television Wednesday evening needling Trump to fulfill earlier commitments to release the full files on Epstein, the convicted sex offender who once was a known associate of Trump’s and ultimately died in jail in 2019.
A number of Trump’s usually stalwart supporters on the political right this week have flown into a rage after Attorney General Pam Bondi said there was no so-called “client list” of Epstein’s — just a few months after telling an interviewer on Fox News that exact list was on her desk.
It was once top Trump officials like Bondi — and FBI Director Kash Patel — who were the ones stoking conspiracy theories regarding Epstein and his potential powerful associates who may have also committed horrific sex crimes, Raskin noted.
And Elon Musk — the billionaire who largely bankrolled Trump’s 2024 presidential campaign and subsequently served as a top advisor to Trump before the pair began a falling out — also has said publicly that Trump specifically is named in those Epstein files, Raskin added.
"Well, we’ve been hearing from Trump and Pam Bondi and Kash Patel and the Republicans for years now about all of the extraordinarily lurid things that are in there about politicians and people with extraordinary wealth and power who are on Epstein’s list. And that’s what we want to see. They should release all of it,” the congressman said. “At the very least, they should release those parts that were indicated by Elon Musk, who for a while was Donald Trump’s best friend and who was entrusted with the most important job in the administration, which was basically to dismantle the government of the United States, whose repercussions we're living with right now.
“Elon Musk said that Donald Trump is in the Epstein files, and that’s the real reason they haven’t been released. Well, Donald Trump has said, his press secretary has said, Pam Bondi said this is the most transparent, accessible administration in history,” Raskin said during an appearance on MSNBC. “We’ve got some reason to doubt that. But in any event, live up to what you’ve said, live up to what you’ve promised, and live up to what you’ve demanded that others do. Release these materials to the public."
