Failure To Seek Justice Will Only Invite More Lawlessness, Violence, Forensic Psychiatrist Warns
Trump, associates so far avoided accountability
If Donald Trump and his associates are not held to account for their alleged crimes, that inaction will only lead to worsening conditions within society.
That's the stark warning from a prominent forensic psychiatrist and editor of a volume about the psychology of the former president.
The House select committee investigating the events surrounding the January 6 insurrection held its third public hearing Thursday, a series of high-profile sessions which has been laying out damning evidence against Trump and others in their attempt to block the lawful and legitimate certification of Joe Biden as the next president of the United States — as well as other potential crimes.
And while hundreds of Trump's supporters are being tried and sentenced for their roles in the attack on the US Capitol Building, so far Trump and his top former lieutenants have so far avoided indictments for their actions.
“If we fail to administer justice because of fear of backlash or violence, then we will face greater backlash and violence, for it will send the message that threats and intimidation work. Threats of violence signal time for GREATER action, not less,” tweeted Bandy Lee, forensic psychiatrist, violence expert, editor of The Dangerous Case of Donald Trump, and president of the World Mental Health Coalition.
