Fetterman: By January I Will Be Better But Dr. Oz Is Still a Fraud
Democrat battling after debate showed signs of the stroke he suffered
The Democratic nominee for a US Senate in Pennsylvania went on the attack in a TV interview this week following an appearance in a televised debate which displayed some of the effects of the stroke he suffered several months ago.
Pennsylvania Lt Gov John Fetterman defended his abilities in a forceful statement during a Thursday interview on MSNBC.
That came just days after some aspects of his stroke appeared on display just days earlier during a face-off against his Republican opponent, Dr Mehmet Oz.
While his condition is temporary, Oz's politics are permanent, Fetterman argued.
“Yeah, all of our doctors believe that we’re absolutely ready to be fit to be serving. And one of the things we always remind everybody is that by January, I would be much, much better, but Oz will still be a fraud,” he said. “And you know, I rely on the judgment of real doctors, not a fake doctor like Dr. Oz that has spent his entire campaign ridiculing and counting how many words that I might miss. And again, I acknowledge that, of course, any debate is not going to be easy for somebody in recovery, and we wanted — thought it was important to be there, and we showed up.
“And getting knocked down, I always got back up. And to me, that’s really the essence of our campaign, is that we’re running for any Pennsylvanian that ever got knocked down that has to get back up. That’s really what we’re running on,” Fetterman added.
The Fetterman campaign released a letter from the candidate's doctor indicating that the former mayor of Braddock, Pa., would be capable of serving as a US senator.
