Fmr SC Politician: Dems May Lose the House But We’ll Win Governors in States that Matter
Fate of the Senate might not be known until perhaps December, Bakari Sellers adds
Democrats will likely have a better night Tuesday than many are predicting, according to a political commentator who once served as a Democratic member of the South Carolina state house.
Democrats are heading into Tuesday's important midterm elections defending their razor-thin majorities in both houses of Congress.
Polls, which once gave Democrats an edge, appear to have shifted to provide Republicans with an advantage.
Still, Democrats will come out okay, said Bakari Sellers, who served in the Palmetto State legislature from 2006 through 2014.
“But I do think Democrats are going to have a better night than people expect. The reason being is, I think Democrats probably won’t know who wins the Senate until after Georgia, which will probably be December, but on Tuesday night you’ll see Democrats maintain or win governor’s mansions in states that really matter,” said in an on-camera appearance on CNN. “You will have Wisconsin, Michigan, Pennsylvania. Those states matter. Why do those states matter? Because of 2024. And you’re also going to have Wes Moore who is going to flip Maryland. So you’re going to have some victories.
“Although we probably won’t keep the House, we’re going to maintain the Senate, and those governor’s mansions really matter,” he added.
