‘Folks, This Is Not Your Father’s Republican Party’: Biden Cranks Up Campaign Message
President takes on Trump and other MAGA Republicans
President Biden was in Colorado Wednesday, ostensibly to tout renewable energy and the success of one of the world’s leading manufacturers of wind turbines.
But make no mistake: the president’s also taking off the gloves for his expected rematch next year with Republican Donald Trump.
Biden certainly lauded CS Wind — a Korean company with a large American manufacturing plant just outside of downtown Pueblo, which is the leading wind turbine tower manufacturer in the world — during his stop in Pueblo, Colo.
But he also came out swinging against Trump — whom he defeated in 2020 — as well as MAGA Republicans in general.
The president celebrated legislative victories during his time in office which directly contributed to the success of CS Wind and its ability to provide its employees with end-of-year bonuses, saying, “Like I said, when I hear climate, I think jobs.”
He also noted that this success is occurring in the district represented by far-right Republican congresswoman, Lauren Boebert.
“The historic investments we’re celebrating today is in Congresswoman Boebert’s district. She’s one of the leaders of this extreme MAGA movement,” Biden said, crossing himself facetiously. “She, along with every single Republican colleague, voted against the law that made these investments and jobs possible.
“And that’s not hyperbole. That’s a fact. And then she voted to repeal key parts of this law and she called this law a massive failure. You all know you’re part of a massive failure?” Biden jokingly asked.
He also took aim at Trump, who is the distant frontrunner for the 2024 Republican presidential nomination in an attempt to return to the White House.
Specifically, Biden criticized Trump for the former president’s statements this week that, if elected, would once again try to repeal the landmark healthcare reform law known as the Affordable Care Act or “Obamacare.”
The law was enacted when Barack Obama was president and Biden was serving as vice president.
“Meanwhile, my predecessor wants to get rid of the Affordable Care Act. Over 40 million Americans today get their health insurance through the Affordable Care Act. His plan is to throw them off that plan,” Biden said. “That would mean the number of uninsured African Americans would go up by 20 percent. For Latinos, it would go up by 15 percent.
“Folks, this is not your father’s Republican Party. Like I said, I made a promise to be the president for every American, and I’m keeping my promise,” he added.
