Gowdy, Of Benghazi Fame, Misleads To Manufacture New Pro-Trump Outrage
Despite claim, unredacted name said not to be a witness in Mar-a-Lago case
A Fox News host and former Republican congressman most known for leading the politically driven — and ultimately fruitless — probe into the attack in Benghazi, Libya, is this time trying to create a new scandal with outright deception, according to multiple sources.
Trey Gowdy, a former Republican congressman from South Carolina, is trying to accuse the Department of Justice (DOJ) of nefarious intent in its decision not to redact the name of Kash Patel in the unsealed affidavit. A former official in the Trump administration, Patel is an associate of former president Donald Trump's and is involved in the alleged wrongdoing involving the storage of classified and other national security materials at Trump's home in Palm Beach, Fla.
Initially, DOJ didn't want to release the affidavit at all in order, in part, to protect the identity of witnesses in the case. And, ultimately, federal attorneys redacted the names of those witnesses to shield them.
Patel's name, however, was left unredacted, which Gowdy characterized as a politically motivated “petty, sophomoric swipe” at Patel by leaving his name unredacted.
“The DOJ left Kash’s name unredacted thereby endangering a witness,” Gowdy said during his Fox News program.
Except the fact that Patel's name wasn't redacted means that he isn't a witness — but actually very likely a target of the investigation, according to multiple sources.
“I didn’t see Kash Patel’s unredacted name being in there, but I’m glad it was, and I hope it’s an indication that he’ll be indicted soon. Out of every person I’ve ever met, I don’t think I dislike anymore more than Kash Patel. And I’ve met Stephen Miller,” tweeted the popular Twitter account going by Angry Staffer, referring to the racist former Trump advisor who crafted much of the ex-president's immigration policies.
Gowdy, himself, is known for leading the political theater in Congress known as the Benghazi hearings, in which House Republicans hounded former secretary of state Hillary Clinton for the 2012 Benghazi attack against two US government facilities in Benghazi, Libya, by members of the Islamic militant group Ansar al-Sharia which resulted in four Americans dead.
