‘Greater Even Than Elvis’: Trump Obsesses on Crowd Size
Republican once falsely claimed his inaugural attendance was larger than Obama's
Democrats clearly have gotten deep under Donald Trump’s skin.
From President Barack Obama, to Vice President Kamala Harris herself, top Democrats have been tweaking the former president over the size of the crowds he’s been attracting at his campaign events.
Trump, making his third run for the White House, took time Wednesday at his campaign rally in New York to boast about the numbers of supporters he can draw.
Obama jabbed his successor about his obsession with crowd size last month at the Democratic National Convention in Chicago — complete with a mocking hand gesture.
More recently, Harris taunted Trump over crowd size at their debate.
Trump has been fixated on crowd size since his first day as president when he sent his new press secretary to falsely claim that his inaugural crowds were larger than Obama’s.
On Wednesday at his event on Long Island, Trump compared himself to the King of Rock-'n'-roll, the late Elvis Presley.
“I call up my wife. I say, ‘Baby, who could draw crowds? Nobody can draw crowds like me,’” he claimed. “Nobody, not even close. I’m the greatest of all time, maybe greater even than Elvis. Because Elvis had a guitar. I don’t have a guitar. Elvis had a guitar. I don’t have the privilege of a guitar.”
