‘I Can‘t Love This Guy Enough’: Harris Taps Minnesota’s Walz as Running Mate
Governor has established progressive record in office
Vice President Kamala Harris appears to be further electrifying the Democratic electorate once again, choosing Minnesota Gov Tim Walz as her vice presidential running mate.
Walz, who previously was a Democratic congressman and a teacher, immediately began winning plaudits on social media.
Harris chose Walz after an abbreviated selection process after she ascended to the top of the Democratic presidential ticket a few weeks ago following President Biden’s withdrawal from the race.
Harris is scheduled to appear with Walz at a joint rally later Tuesday.
Walz has established a progressive record as governor, helping codify abortion rights, universal free school meals, and universal gun background checks among other accomplishments.
Before being elected governor in 2018, he spent a number of years in Congress and previously worked as a teacher and served in the Army National Guard.
“I can't love this guy enough,” posted Democratic influencer Brian Krassenstein, along with a long list of Walz’s accomplishments.
Actress Lynda Carter posted: “24 years in the Army National Guard. A school teacher. A champion who understands America. I can’t wait to call @Tim_Walz our Vice President!”
Glenn Kirschner, a former federal prosecutor, posted: “I like, & am inspired by, Tim Walz, Kamala Harris's VP pick. He has military experience, as a SGT/NCO. Those of us who served know that it's the NCOs that make it all work. He was a HS social studies teacher & football coach. He's direct, plain-spoken, & an honest, honorable man.”
