‘I Wouldn’t Change Anything If I Was Her’: Kamala Harris Wins Praise from Fox News
Bream rebuts criticism from the political right
The joy and exuberance given off by Vice President Kamala Harris’s presidential campaign clearly is infectious, particularly that the surging Democratic nominee is even winning praise from the unlikeliest of sources.
Shannon Bream, a host on Fox News, defended Harris from some of the criticisms that the vice president has been taking from the right, saying that the surge in popularity she’s seeing for her candidacy proves that she’s on the right track.
Harris has been criss-crossing the country this week in a series of large campaign rallies in various battleground states with her running mate, Minnesota Gov Tim Walz.
While some on the right-wing cable network criticized Harris for devoting insufficient time to discussing the intricacies of her policies, Bream dismissed those concerns.
“Well, I think what their number one goal so far, the message has been, ‘We’re not Trump.’ We are not getting into policy yet and it’s not on the website and they haven’t done the interviews and they’re really not talking about the minutia of policy on the campaign trail,” she said. “It is, as Jesse said, it’s joyful, they’re happy warriors, and look at this, you know, team go.
“So how long does the honeymoon last? Does it puncture to get to policy? She said [she would answer journalists’ questions] by the end of the month. So, a month after becoming the nominee maybe we’re going to have a sit-down interview from her. In the meantime, if I’m advising her, I say, ‘Just keep doing this, it’s working,’” Bream added. “You have an adoring media, you have people who are not pressing you on what appear to be changes in positions and those kinds of things. It may be the debate is the first time that they get to that.
“But in the meantime, I wouldn’t change anything if I was her. It’s working,” Bream said. “Her unfavorables are down, her favorables are up 12 points just since she has been named to the ticket. So why change it if it’s working?”
