‘I’m Bruce Springsteen And I Am Here Today To Support Kamala Harris’: Stars Come Out for Democrats
Celebrities rally for Democrats outside Atlanta Ga
It may be weeks since pop star Taylor Swift dropped her bombshell endorsement of Vice President Kamala Harris for president, but the Democrats are proving they’re still not lacking for celebrities.
Some of the biggest names in music and Hollywood joined former president Barack Obama Thursday evening outside Atlanta Ga, to rally for Harris and her running mate, Minnesota Gov Tim Walz.
Rock legend Bruce Springsteen appeared along with actor Samuel L Jackson and actor and Hollywood mogul Tyler Perry for an event to push battleground Georgia towards the Democrats and was streamed across the Internet as well.
Hall of Fame rocker Springsteen mixed words and music as he spoke to the crowd as well as performed a few of his songs with an acoustic guitar.
Although he performed his famous hit, “Dancing in the Dark,” it was his rendition of his anthem, “Land of Hope and Dreams,” that best fit the occasion.
“I’m Bruce Springsteen and I am here today to support Mala Harris and Tim Waltz for president and vice president of the United States. And to oppose, to oppose Donald Trump and JD Vance,” the musician announced. “Now, here’s why. I want a president who reveres the Constitution. Who does not threaten but wants to protect and guide our great democracy. Who believes in the rule of law and the peaceful transfer of power. Who will fight for a woman’s right to choose. And who wants to create a middle class economy that will serve all our citizens.
“There is only one candidate in this election, who holds those principles dear Kamala Harris. She’s running to be the 47th president of the United States. Donald Trump is running to be an American tyrant. He does not understand this country, its history, or what it means to be deeply American,” he added. “And that’s why November 5 I’m casting my vote. For Kamala Harris and Tim Waltz. I urge all of you who believe in the American way to join me.”
When he took the stage, Perry, who is Black, recounted Trump’s long history of racism, including the newspaper ad Trump took out decades ago pushing for the death penalty for a group of young Black men convicted — but later exonerated — of the assault of a white woman in Central Park in New York.
“I watched him, from the Central Park 5 to Project 2025,” Perry said, referring to the deeply unpopular right-wing government blueprint which has been linked to Trump. “And what I realize is that in this Donald Trump America, there is no dream that looks like me.”
Jackson, who has appeared in many movies, including Marvel and Star Wars blockbusters, expressed his enthusiasm for Harris and urged voters to cast ballots for her early.
“Now, Georgia we’ve got 12 days to choose which way our country to go from here, which way our future is going to go from here,” he said. “That’s why I’m so fired up to be here with y’all, and that’s why I’m so proud to support our next president of United States, Kamala Harris.”
