‘It All Went to His Hair’: Biden Zings Trump at Labor Union Stop
President recalls predecessor's call for Americans to inject bleach
President Biden’s clearly ramping up his wise cracks at Donald Trump’s expense, out on the campaign trail.
Such was the case Wednesday when he visited with North America’s Building Trades Unions (NABTU) at their conference in Washington DC, and collected the endorsement of the labor union as well.
Biden was touting his economic record and support for organized labor as president, when he needled Trump on his appearance as well as his infamous suggestion four years ago that Americans inject bleach as a treatment against COVID-19.
“Meanwhile, Donald Trump still thinks windmills cause cancer,” Biden said, to laughter from the crowd. “That’s what he said.
“And, by the way, remember when he was trying to deal with COVID? He said just inject a little bleach in your veins. He missed; it all went to his hair,” he added, to more laughter.
“Look, I shouldn’t have said that,” Biden quipped. “I probably shouldn’t have said that. You guys are a bad influence on me.”
Biden and Trump are on course for a rematch this year, as each have secured support to be their respective party’s presumptive presidential nominee.
More seriously, Biden touted his work with Congress to enact major federal investment into the combat of global climate change, saying that “when I think climate, I think jobs.”
“Trump and his MAGA allies want to repeal the most significant investments in climate ever — the work that — that you risked your lives doing lots of it,” he said. “You know, and he wants to risk all those jobs. Are you surprised? I’m not.”
