Kennedy Family Sides With Biden Over Blood
Family makes clear where their loyalty lies in this election
Members of the nation’s most famous political family came together Thursday to tell voters just where their political loyalty lies in this year’s presidential election.
Several Kennedys shared a stage at a recreation center in Philadelphia, Pa, with President Biden to demonstrate clearly that they supported him for reelection — and not their relative, Robert F Kennedy Jr.
The Kennedys are relatives of Democratic giants like President John F Kennedy and presidential candidate Robert Kennedy Sr.
They also share their family with RFK Jr, the one-time environmental lawyer and son of RFK Sr who is running an independent bid for president that potentially threatens Biden’s hopes to win a second term.
An organizer in RFK Jr’s campaign made clear that drawing support from Biden to elect Republican Donald Trump was the priority. That organizer, Rita Palma, was fired after video of her comments were made public.
Although the Kennedy family has distanced themselves before from RFK Jr’s candidacy, Thursday’s event was the most public and direct statement of their feelings in the 2024 election.
Kerry Kennedy, RFK Jr’s sister, literally embraced Biden on-stage.
“Joe Biden‘s every decision is informed by his love, his wisdom and his compassion towards those who suffer. That is why we are so happy today to pledge our unwavering support to President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris,” she said, to cheering and applause.
Biden, in turn, thanked the Kennedys for their support.
“What an incredible honor. What an incredible honor,” the president repeated. “I don’t want to become emotional, but what an incredible honor to have the support of the Kennedy family.”
