Lauren Boebert Throws Pity Party Over Criticism She’s Gotten in Wake of Colorado Nightclub Shooting
Boebert's been blamed for vitriolic anti-LGBTQ rhetoric
A far-right congresswoman from Colorado who has been known for stoking the kind of hate against the LGBTQ community which apparently fueled last weekend's deadly shooting at an LGBTQ night spot seems to be feeling sorry for herself because she's been called out for her vitriol.
Five people were killed and 17 others injured last Saturday when a gunman opened fire inside Club Q, a crowded gay nightclub in Colorado Springs, Colo.
Rep Lauren Boebert, of Colorado, has been outspoken against the LGBTQ community.
Boebert, who appears headed to a second term after nearly losing to her Democratic opponent earlier this month, is one of those on the political right who have co-opted the term “grooming” — used to describe how child molesters entrap and abuse their victims — in recent years by opponents of drag shows and the LGBTQ community.
Colorado’s first openly transgender lawmaker, state Rep. Brianna Titone, also tweeted that Boebert helped create the atmosphere for the attack.
“You spreading tropes and insults contributed to the hatred for us,” she wrote.
In response, Boebert indulged in a public tantrum.
“You cannot just continue to blame society for evil people. At some point you have to blame the criminal instead of just doing whatever you can to get the blame off of them and release them back into society quicker,” she said in an on-camera appearance with a right-wing media source. “You know, Dan, I have been accused of just about every mass shooting there has been since the left has learned of my name, whether it’s Uvalde or the King Sooper shooting in Boulder, Colorado, or the Buffalo, New York shooting, or even Paul Pelosi getting hammered. I have been blamed for all. And so all of this, it has to come to an end, this blame game.
“You know, I think the left is pissed that I won my election, so they’re trying to find something to go after me about. You know, I expressed my concern for the family, for the victims, and the way that they came after me is absolutely disgusting and we’re all sick of this,” she added.
