‘Let’s Just Call For It’: Democrat Moskowitz Taunts Republicans Over Biden Impeachment
Florida congressman exposes unseriousness of Republican effort against the president
A feisty Democratic congressman dared Republicans to go ahead and impeach President Biden in a testy exchange Wednesday during a congressional hearing.
Rep Jared Moskowitz, of Florida, made clear that if House Republicans had actually proven Biden had committed any sort of corruption or wrongdoing, they would already have voted to impeach the president.
The clash came during a Republican-led hearing in the impeachment inquiry into Biden in which a business associate of the president’s son, Hunter Biden, was the star witness.
House Republicans have, for months, been alleging baselessly that Biden should be impeached for some sort of corruption and wrongdoing that they have never been able to specify.
Republicans are keeping alive the potential to impeach Biden despite the fact that they had been fed deliberate disinformation by a Russian agent now in US custody.
Moskowitz goaded Republicans when it was his turn to question Hunter Biden’s business partner, Tony Bobulinski.
“I assume you believe he should be impeached, but my point is, is that the chairman has not yet moved for that. And so, look, Chairman, we got like three and a half minutes here. I mean, let’s just do the impeachment,” he said. “I mean, why continue to waste millions of dollars of the taxpayers’ money if we’re gonna impeach because you believe you’ve shown he’s committed a high crime and misdemeanor? What are you waiting on? Let’s just do it.
“I mean, by the way, you got Chairman Jordan here also, the double chairman,” Moskowitz added, referring to Rep Jim Jordan (R-Ohio), chairman of the House Judiciary Committee. “Why aren’t you guys calling for the vote in your committee? When is it going to happen?”
Moskowitz continued some antagonistic back-and-forth with both Bobulinski and Jordan, before adding, “Ask Comer, ‘Hey, Comer, how come you haven’t called for impeachment.’ I’ll do it, watch. ‘Hi, I’m Tony. Hey, Chairman, how come you haven’t called for impeachment? When will we have the hearing? When is the vote going to happen?’”
He was referring to Rep James Comer (R-Ky), chairman of the House Oversight Committee and the leader of the Republican impeachment inquiry.
Noting that Republicans will hold their House majority only a few more months before the November elections, Moskowitz told Bobulinski, “I mean, you believe it. He believes it. He says it every day on TV,” referring again to Comer who is a frequent guest on right-wing media.
“I just don’t know we’re ever going to have the vote. I mean, let’s just go!” Moskowitz added.
