Marjorie Taylor Greene Says Trump and Jesus Are Alike Because Both Are ‘Convicted Felons’
Georgia congresswoman makes outlandish statement at Las Vegas rally
Jesus Christ and the presumptive 2024 Republican presidential nominee are similar because they’re both “convicted felons,” according to one prominent far-right Republican congresswoman.
Rep Marjorie Taylor Greene, of Georgia, made the comparison Sunday while speaking at Donald Trump’s campaign rally in Las Vegas, Nev.
Trump is making his third run for the White House, and just weeks ago he made history as the first former president ever convicted of a crime.
A jury in New York found Trump guilty of all 34 counts related to a scheme to falsify business records in order to hide a payment to keep quiet a porn star who alleged an extramarital affair with Trump, just prior to Trump’s first election in 2016.
He is to be sentenced on those charges July 11, just days before he officially becomes the Republican nominee for president.
Trump held a rally in Las Vegas, making a play for Nevada’s 6 electoral votes.
“The Democrats and the fake news media want to constantly talk about, oh, President Trump is a convicted felon. Well, you want to know something? The man that I worship is also a convicted felon, and he was murdered on a Roman cross,” said Greene, who long has supported Trump and has been named as a potential running mate. “We’ve seen political corruption. We have seen this throughout history. This is nothing new.”
This, however, is not the first time Trump’s MAGA Republican base has compared him to god or Christ, and Trump himself has made the comparison.
