Nancy Pelosi Says Dems Will Respect the Outcome of the Elections and Hopes the Other Side Will Too
The 2022 midterms are the 1st national elections since Trump and his supporters tried to overturn results in 2020
Democrats will — win or lose — accept the will of the American voters on Tuesday, according to the speaker of the US House of Representatives, and she hopes that Republicans do likewise.
The important 2022 midterm elections are the first national elections since Donald Trump and his violent supporters tried to overturn the legal results of the 2020 presidential election and the ongoing, false “Big Lie,” in which the former president and his supporters baselessly claim that the 2020 election was somehow “stolen” from him.
A variety of election deniers are running for various offices this year, including Republican Doug Mastriano campaigning for governor in Pennsylvania.
Mastriano, himself, reportedly was among those who were at the riot against the US Capitol on January 6, 2021.
House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, a Democrat from California, told Americans that they should vote on Tuesday.
“I think the vote tomorrow is a vote to defend our democracy. But I want people to vote, and then we will respect the outcome of the election. And I would hope that the other side would do that as well,” Pelosi said Monday in an on-camera appearance on CNN, who added, “We want to protect the sanctity of the vote as well as the safety of our precinct and our poll workers.”
Pelosi's own husband was just recently released from the hospital after a brutal and politically motivated attack in their San Francisco, Calif, home.
