New Right-wing Conspiracy Theory: President Biden Would Pardon Hunter After Election
Shadowy figure making allegation could become a top official in 2nd Trump administration
Flailing in its attempt to come up with any real evidence to impeach President Biden, the political right has developed a new line of attack against the Democrat.
Without any evidence to support his contention, an influential right-wing activist is publicly charging that Biden would grant his son a pardon if the younger Biden is convicted of any of the growing list of charges against him.
Mike Davis — the Republican lawyer known for calling the caging of migrant kids “glorious,” and told his followers to “arm up” against “the violent Black underclass” — made the claim in an on-camera appearance with Fox News.
Hunter Biden has been charged in connection with a long-running Justice Department investigation into his taxes – the second criminal case that special counsel David Weiss has brought against President Biden’s sole-surviving son.
These new charges come just months after a plea agreement for Hunter Biden collapsed in a Delaware courtroom over earlier federal gun-related charges.
With the potential for the younger Biden to be convicted ahead of next year's presidential election, the Republican attorney — Davis — is claiming without evidence that President Biden plans to issue a pardon for his son after Election Day.
“Yeah, David Weiss waited four years to bring these charges, he could have brought these charges four years ago. He is the handpicked U.S. attorney from both Democrat home state senators. They wrote a letter of recommendation. I was the chief counsel for nominations, he is their guy,” Davis claimed falsely.
Weiss, in fact, was a US attorney who had been nominated by Donald Trump before Attorney General Merrick Garland appointed him special counsel earlier this year.
Meanwhile, Davis has long been a Republican operative who helped Republicans confirm a number of Trump's judges and has been mentioned as a potential attorney general should Trump be reelected next year.
“He brought these charges under pressure because a very good judge in Delaware called him out on this sweetheart plea deal with this back-door pardon,” Davis said, baselessly, referring to Weiss. “Now he is bringing these tax charges against Hunter Biden, no foreign agent charges against Hunter Biden related to the tens of millions of dollars the Biden family received, and I think President Biden will pardon his son after the election.”
