‘Pardon Hunter!’: Prominent Never-Trump Republican Urges President To Help Son
Navarro cites questionable Trump pardons in her plea
A well-known anti-Trump Republican is urging President Biden to pardon his son, Hunter, before he leaves office in January.
Ana Navarro, a longtime Republican operative and current TV personality, made her statement in her capacity as a co-host of the popular TV chat show, The View.
Hunter Biden was convicted of three separate felony charges related to his purchase of a revolver in 2018 when, according to prosecutors, he was battling an addiction to illegal drugs and lied about it on paperwork to obtain the gun.
The younger Biden also offered a surprise guilty plea in his tax evasion case.
President Biden has consistently said that he would not pardon his son, a position White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre reiterated after Donald Trump's win last week.
But Navarro wants the president to change his mind before Trump is inaugurated.
She made her comments Monday in context of lamenting the election of Trump, who has been convicted of 34 felonies in New York.
“Pardon Hunter, because we — basically, America just pardoned a criminal — ” Navarro said.
She also noted both some of the shady pardons Trump, himself, granted during his first term as well as those he promised to make once back in office.
“He’s probably going to pardon some of the folks from January 6, those insurrectionists,” Navarro said. “So you know what? It’s your son. He probably wouldn’t have been prosecuted if his last name wasn’t Biden.
“Baby, you got two and a half months. I’m good with you pardoning Hunter,” she added, to applause from the studio audience.
