Pelosi: Trump’s ‘Not Man Enough’ to Show up to Testify Before Jan. 6th Committee
Select committee voted to compel testimony by the former president about the attempt to overturn the 2020 election
House Speaker Nancy Pelosi took a dig at Donald Trump's manhood over whether the former president would comply with the legal subpoena compelling him to testify before the House select committee investigating the events surrounding the January 6, 2021, insurrection.
Trump was ordered on Friday to testify under oath and provide documents to the select committee investigating the Jan. 6, 2021, attack on the U.S. Capitol by his supporters.
The committee said it had sent a subpoena to Trump requiring documents to be submitted to the panel by November 4 and for him to appear for deposition testimony beginning on or about November 14.
The select committee dramatically agreed to subpoena Trump by unanimous vote of its 7 Democrats and 2 Republicans, at its last public hearing.
But, Sunday, Pelosi — not a member of the select committee — said that she doubts that the former president will appear as ordered.
“I don't think he’s man enough to show up,” the California Democrat said in an on-camera appearance on MSNBC.
“I'm sorry, Madam Speaker, I literally could not hear what you said,” interjected host Jonathan Capehart.
Pelosi replied, “You asked me if I thought he was going to show up? And I said, ‘I don’t think he’s man enough to show up.’ I don’t think his lawyers would want him to show because he has to testify under oath. But I don’t think he'll show up. I don’t think he’s man enough.
“We’ll see. We'll see if he's man enough to show up and the public should make the judgment. No one is above the law,” Pelosi added. “If we believe that, then they should make a judgment about how he responds to that request.”
