Political Right Wants To Criminalize Recreational Sex
Influential Heritage Foundation has policy goal to prohibit access to birth control
The influential right-wing organization behind the blueprint for direction of the nation under Republican rule has made public another controversial policy goal: outlawing consensual recreational sexual intercourse.
The Heritage Foundation is already known for its “Project 2025,” its comprehensive plan named for right-wing governance after hypothetical Republican wins for president and Congress in the 2024 elections.
Having won the rollback of abortion rights nearly two years ago at the US Supreme Court, the Heritage Foundation now wants to take the step of criminalizing women's access to birth control.
Adam Jentleson, a longtime top Democratic staffer on Capitol Hill, recently surfaced a social media post in which the Heritage Foundation makes its goals plain.
Republicans relied on advocacy organizations like Heritage to provide policy directions and remake federal courts in a far rightward direction.
Currently chief of staff to Sen John Fetterman (D-Pa), Jentleson surfaced a post from 2023 that said: “Conservatives have to lead the way in restoring sex to its true purpose, & ending recreational sex & senseless use of birth control pills.”
Jentleson added: “the highly influential heritage foundation, which would help staff and direct a future Trump administration, literally said that a key conservative policy goal is ‘ending recreational sex.’ they said it, not me. IMO we should take them both seriously and literally”
