Politicization Of Vaccines Spills Into Media Slugfest Over 'The View'
“Getting vaxxed is not a ‘core liberal view’ and protesting vaccines is not ‘conservative’ in any meaningful sense,” journalist argues
The public trevails over finding a new conservative to take a seat on the popular television chatfest, The View, has spilled over into a nasty online brawl on social media between two prominent journalists.
Producers at The View, on ABC, have been on the hunt to replace Meghan McCain as the talk show's resident conservative since she left in August.
Multiple news reports have detailed the troubles that those behind the scenes have been having in settling on a permanent replacement for McCain.
This has caused a scuffle on Twitter between journalist Glenn Greenwald, formerly of The Intercept, and Tim Miller, writer-at-large at the online conservative journal, The Bulwark.
It began with Greenwald reacting to one of the stories about the troubled search.
“I love so much how The View is determined to find someone who lets them pretend that they have a conservative on their panel, but it can't be anyone who offends core liberal views. Liz Cheney would be perfect once she loses her seat. But until then, who?” Greenwald asked, referring to the Republican congresswoman from Wyoming who is an outcast among her own party for — among other right-wing heresies — serving as vice chair of the House select committee investigating the January 6 insurrection.
Miller, a “Never Trumper” himself, responded by tweeting, “Its so weird that not wanting to have someone on your show who advocates for civil disobedience against the "tyranny" of life-saving drugs is partisan now?
“Getting vaxxed is not a ‘core liberal view’ and protesting vaccines is not ‘conservative’ in any meaningful sense,” Miller added.
