Rachel Vindman Fact Checks Republicans In Real Time
Peel back the rhetoric to find a GOP not in support of Ukraine
Rachel Vindman, whose husband is a retired US Army lieutenant colonel and one-time top official within the White House National Security Council (NSC), called out and fact-checked the Republican Party for trying to claim it backs the embattled nation of Ukraine.
Republicans posted to social media an item insinuating virtual unanimous support for Ukraine in its three-week-old battle to repulse a lawless and brutal Russian invasion: “Americans stand with the Ukrainian people!”
However, Rachel Vindman came up behind, to correct the record given that Republicans have been anything but stalwart in their support for Ukraine.
In a response, Vindman simply replied, “Oh?” along with a graphic naming the 31 Republican senators who just voted against $13.6 billion in crucial US aid to help Ukraine keep the fight going.
Indeed, in addition to the lack of support cited by Rachel Vindman, the eight holdouts in Thursday's vote in the House to suspend trade relations with Russia and it's ally, Belarus, were all Republicans.
Furthermore, outspoken Republican Rep Marjorie Taylor Greene, of Georgia, posted a bizarre online video of herself Wednesday night, in which she attempted to say that “both sides” deserve blame in Russia's unprovoked attack on Ukraine.
