Rep Lauren Boebert Accused of Murdering Neighbor's Dog
Right-wing congresswoman denied allegations
Rep Lauren Boebert, the freshman Colorado Republican battling for a second term, now stands accused of killing a neighbor's beloved dog — and then letting that neighbor wonder for hours about the pet's fate.
The dog, Omega, allegedly escaped her home and ultimately attacked some goats on Boebert's property.
Social media lit up over the story, although Boebert herself denies killing the animal.
A statement from Boebert's neighbor, Yaritza Mendoza, was posted online.
“As your neighbor, I would hope you had the same respect for me that I had for you. I would have hoped you would have had the decency to let us know that you had killed her,” Mendoza's statement read, in part. “Instead you waited until I knocked on your door after hours of hearing me yell her name. I did not find out from you that you killed her[.] I found out from the authorities who also handed me a citation for a ‘Dog at large’ along with the devastating news. I was given a citation due to the fact that you were considering her to be 'violent.’”
Boebert denied the killing.
“For the uninformed trolls: The story that was started saying I killed a neighbors dog is not true. I've never shot or killed any dog, ever. A neighbor told the police that he shot two dogs,” her tweet said.
