‘Rip Down All the Buildings in Manhattan’: Trump’s New Brand of Crazy
Nominee unveils latest bonkers claims
Donald Trump’s seems to have moved on from sharks and electric boats.
The former president — and current Republican presidential nominee — showed off a new unhinged obsession at a campaign event in the battleground state of Wisconsin.
Over the last several months, Trump has developed a history of going off the rails in front of crowds of supporters.
He has mused — while running for president — about whether it’s better to be electrocuted by an electric boat, or eaten in the water by hungry sharks.
And Trump has repeatedly talked about the fictional character, Hannibal Lecter, from the movie Silence of the Lambs, as if he were a real person.
He has a completely new bonkers obsession that he’s ranting about on the campaign trail: a completely false claim that Democrats want to level the high-rise buildings in New York City, and replace current bathrooms with “water-free” bathrooms.
The rant started with all sorts of disparagement and false claims about the Democrats’ environmental agenda.
“They wanted to rip down all the buildings in Manhattan — those gorgeous buildings with those big, beautiful windows — and they wanted to rebuild them without windows. Because without windows is more energy efficient,” Trump said, falsely. “Tell somebody you’re going to take 40,000 feet of office space, but you have no windows. This is what they want. These people are crazy. They’re crazy.
“Take a look, take a look at some of them, actually — you got to see the bathrooms that they project for, uh, people. I can’t talk to you about it because it’s so gross,” he added, again falsely and without evidence. “But basically, water-free bathrooms, water-free, no water. This is not good. But these people are crazy.”
