Scaramucci: You Can Tell by Trump’s Hair that He’s ‘Physically Unraveling’
You can see the impact of indictment in Trump's trademark coif, one-time White House staffer says
You can see Donald Trump's deteriorating mental state following his two criminal indictments by just looking at him — at least his hair.
That's according to someone who briefly worked in the White House for the former president and then turned into a persistent Trump critic.
The telltale signs can be seen in Trump's personal appearance during his televised interview Monday with Bret Baier, of Fox News.
The former president — who also is the leading candidate for the Republican presidential nomination in 2024 — has already been criticized for his answers during that encounter about his possession of sensitive and classified federal documents after he left the White House.
Trump is now facing more than 30 felony charges related to his handling of those documents.
It's not just what he said during the Baier interview, but how Trump looked, said Anthony Scaramucci, a financier who worked as Trump's White House communications director for just 10 days during one of the most chaotic periods of the Trump presidency in the summer of 2017.
Specifically, just look at Trump's hair, Scaramucci told CNN's Alisyn Camerota during a recent appearance on that network.
Trump's trademark coiffure has long been a subject of fascination, so much so that late-night comedian Jimmy Fallon playfully mussed the 'do when Trump appeared on Fallon's Tonight Show during the 2016 campaign.
But today that famous hair is, well, worse for wear, Scaramucci said.
“With those poll numbers, no. But if you told me he went to 55 percent unfavorable in the Republican Party and you saw somebody like [former] governor [Chris] Christie or Gov. [Ron] DeSantis rise in the polls, and you saw another indictment or two, and you saw him starting to unravel — I mean, I don’t know what he’s doing with his hair, but he’s gotta get a new hairstyle or something — ” he said, referring to softening poll numbers for the former president and to two of Trump's chief rivals for the 2024 Republican nomination.
“Really? You see something has changed in his hair?” Camerota asked, with a laugh.
“Oh, come on. He’s like physically unraveling. Just take a look at him. Go back to the Bret Baier tape,” Scaramucci responded.
Here's an excerpt of the remainder of that exchange:
CAMEROTA: “You think he’s — ”
SCARAMUCCI: “Yeah.”
CAMEROTA: “What part is unraveling?”
SCARAMUCCI: “Well, you know, he was probably using six cans of hairspray during the campaign, he’s probably only using one now. He’s got to straighten this out.”
CAMEROTA: “(Laughs) Wow. This is the meter that you’re using? I like that.”
SCARAMUCCI: “He’s a very image-conscious guy. I mean, there’s not a lot of hairspray going on on that raccoon nest. I mean, just being honest. So, you can tell that he’s unraveling. People that really know him can tell that this thing is starting to come undone on him.”
