Slightly More In Poll Think Shooting Won’t Have Any Long-term Effect for Trump
Nearly as many believe incident will help the Republican politically, however
Last week’s attempt on his life won’t end up effecting Donald Trump politically, one way or another, according to a slight plurality of those who responded to an online poll.
However, nearly as many respondents think that the shooting, in which a young gunman shot at Trump during a campaign rally in Pennsylvania believe that the incident ultimately will help him win the election.
Those are results from an online survey on the YouTube page of the left-leaning political podcaster, David Pakman.
Federal law enforcement authorities identified Thomas Matthew Crooks, 20, of Bethel Park, Pa, as the gunman in what they have officially termed as an assassination attempt of the former president. Crooks was killed in the immediate aftermath of the shooting.
Trump just this week formally accepted the 2024 Republican nomination for president.
Pakman posted the question: “Will the assassination attempt help or hurt Trump?”
Some 49 percent of those taking the survey agreed with the statement: “It won’t make a difference in the long-term.”
However, another 46 percent selected: “It will help Trump.”
Just 5 percent chose “It will hurt Trump.”
At deadline, some 53,000 YouTube users had engaged with the survey.
Although a large number of people responded to Pakman’s survey, it is not the same as a scientific public opinion poll.
