So Many Orders, So Little Time
Trump’s flurry of executive orders quite literally is off the charts
Editor’s Note: We decided to publish the following chart because it so graphically demonstrates how Donald Trump’s decided to run his presidency this time around.
As Donald Trump reaches the 100-day mark of his second presidency, it’s become clear how he’s going to rule.
With the exception of the major Republican tax and budget package currently being muscled through Congress, Trump’s not pushing a single piece of legislation to achieve his policy goals.
Rather, we all see — nearly every day — the seemingly unending number of executive orders that he’s chosen to use to rule.
These orders cover everything from his ongoing program of mass deportations, to slashing the civil rights of transgender Americans, to his hatred of all things “DEI,” or diversity, equity and inclusion — and so much more. Often, these orders are of dubious legality and constitutionality.
The following graph demonstrates just how unprecedented Trump’s reliance on executive orders has been when compared to that of his predecessors in recent US history — including himself during his first term. (And it clearly shows his embrace of authoritarianism in this second term.)
Without further ado, here is that dramatic graph (and please do consider subscribing to The Washington Current using the Subscribe button below):
