‘The Presidency Was Taken Away from Joe Biden’: Trump Continues to Spin Bizarre Theory
Republican nominee holds rambling, largely news-free press conference at his home
Donald Trump seems deeply frustrated that his new opponents have been getting so much attention in recent weeks, which resulted in the former president calling a long rambling press conference at his Mar-a-Lago home in Florida.
The event was short on any actual news, however, as Trump focused on his usual issues and grievances.
But it was notable that the 2024 Republican presidential nominee continues to be obsessing over President Biden and Biden’s decision to drop out of the run for the White House.
Trump repeated a baseless and bizarre theory during the press conference that he first introduced earlier this week on his social media, in which he suggests that the presidency was somehow “stolen” from Biden when he dropped his bid for reelection and threw his support behind the candidacy of Vice President Kamala Harris.
The truth, of course, is that Biden remains in office and will continue as president of the United States until January 20, 2025.
“The presidency was taken away from Joe Biden. And I am no Biden fan, but I tell you what, from a constitutional standpoint, from any standpoint you look at, they took the presidency away,” Trump said. “People were saying he lost after the debate, he couldn’t win. Well, I don’t know if that’s true necessarily. But whether he could win or he couldn’t win, he had the right to run and they took it away.
“They said they will use the 25th Amendment, they will hit you hard. Either we can do it the nice — I heard, I know exactly because I know a lot of people on the other side, believe it or not, and they said, ‘We will do it the nice way or we will do it the hard way.’ And he said, ‘All right.’ So they’ve really taken — what they’ve done is pretty incredible,” Trump added, without any evidence.
There hasn’t been any credible reporting that anyone threatened Biden with removal from office by use of the 25th Amendment to the US Constitution.
