‘They Are Making Fun of Us’: AOC Roasts Trump, Musk After McDonald’s Stunt
“We don’t take orders from billionaires,” she adds
A prominent Democrat lambasted billionaire allies Donald Trump and Elon Musk after Trump stopped at a Pennsylvania McDonald’s eatery over the weekend.
Rep Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, of New York, lit into Trump and Musk Sunday campaigning in Philadelphia Pa for the Democratic ticket of Vice President Kamala Harris and Minnesota Gov Tim Walz.
One of the most outspoken progressives in Congress, Ocasio-Cortez mocked Trump for appearing in uniform at a McDonald’s in a Philadelphia suburb and staged an appearance as if he were working a shift.
In reality, the restaurant was closed for a campaign event.
“He put on his little McDonald’s costume. Halloween came early for Donald Trump, because we know that man has never worked a day in his life,” Ocasio-Cortez said. “We know that man’s never punched a clock in his life. He’s never wiped down a table in his life.”
Trump never has had to struggle to make ends meet, she said.
The former president’s attempt at McDonald’s was not genuine, Ocasio-Cortez said.
“You’ve got Donald Trump putting on a little McDonald’s costume because he thinks that’s what people do,” she said. “They’re not trying to empathize with us; they are making fun of us.”
Ocasio-Cortez slammed Musk for a contest in which the billionaire is offering to give away $1 million prizes for voters to sign a petition. Musk is actively backing Trump for president.
“Elon Musk thinks dangling money in front of a working person is a cute thing to do,” she said. “They have absolutely no idea what our lives are like, and so they think this callousness is a way of connecting.”
Voters won’t fall for it, the congresswoman said.
“We don’t take orders from billionaires,” she said. “We don’t allow our elections to be bought.”
