TRUMP IN DC: Former Attorney Offers Explanation for Ex-President's Visit
Insight fueled by "sources," Cohen tweets
Michael Cohen — Donald Trump's former longtime lawyer and “fixer,” turned fierce critic of the ex-president — is out on social media, offering what he says is the reason for Trump's mystery stop in the nation's capital.
Speculation has been rampant since Trump touched down Sunday at Dulles International Airport, just outside Washington DC, for a strangely unannounced visit.
Trump made a very public show of “business as usual” Monday as tongues continued wagging, with various observers musing whether the trip could be healthcare-related at Walter Reed Medical Center or even a sign of imminent indictment or arrest due to his growing legal jeopardy, with multiple federal investigations open and underway on the Republican.
However, Cohen — attorney for Trump from 2006 to 2018 and a vice-president of Trump's business organization, before turning on his former employer after being convicted of, and imprisoned for federal offenses — posted to social media that he has inside information on Trump's intentions.
“Many are asking me why Mr. Mushroom Putter was at his DC Golf Course (which is really in Virginia)? He says to play golf. My sources say he was meeting with 2 lawyers in secrecy and didn’t trust being at their offices. Notice there are no golf clubs on the cart!!!” tweeted Cohen, who today is disbarred and is an author and podcaster.
