‘Trump Is Going To Blame the FAA’: Attorney Predicts President Will Use Crash to Attack Gov’t
Texas lawyer cites Trump's social media post after midair collision
Donald Trump intends to use the tragic midair collision of two aircraft just outside of Washington DC as part of his ongoing attack on the federal government, according to a Texas attorney who also Identifies as a legal and political pundit.
Trump already began that effort with the statement he released on his social media site, Sara Spector, a criminal defense attorney in Midland, Texas, posted on her social media account.
A regional jet collided with a US military Black Hawk helicopter in the skies near Reagan National Airport in Virginia just outside the nation’s capital. No survivors are expected from the mishap. More than 60 passengers and crew were aboard the jet and three soldiers were on the helicopter.
The National Transportation Safety Board is leading an investigation into the tragedy.
Trump issued a statement soon after the crash, which Spector attached to her own social media post.
“The airplane was on a perfect and routine line of approach to the airport. The helicopter was going straight at the airplane for an extended period of time. It was a CLEAR NIGHT, the lights on the plane were blazing, why didn’t the helicopter go up or down, or turn,” Trump posted. “Why didn’t the control tower tell the helicopter what to do instead of asking if they saw the plane. This is a bad situation that looks like it should have been prevented. NOT GOOD!!”
Spector, who has nearly 60,000 followers on social media, appears to base her supposition on Trump’s post.
“Trump is going to blame the FAA for the air tragedy. He will exploit this into a means of consolidating power. He will try to defund the agency per Project 2025,” she wrote, referring to the right-wing agenda for Trump’s presidency that was published ahead of the 2024 election.
Trump distanced himself from Project 2025, but has been seeming to follow its points since being sworn-in last week. The author of Project 2025 is Trump’s pick to run the White House Office of Management and Budget.
