TV Commentator: Biden's Speech Laid Out Democrats' Platform for Midterms, 2024
"Basically, they took Trump’s branding and did a branding judo arm and put it right back on top of them,” Donny Deutsch says
Seen through one lens, President Biden's Thursday night primetime speech to the nation was to serve as a warning of the rise of violence, potential violence, and authoritarianism from Donald Trump and other “MAGA Republicans.”
But from another, it also serves as the Democrats' best road map to victory this year in the crucial November midterm elections, as well as the next one looming just two years later, according to TV commentator and marketing expert, Donny Deutsch.
The morning after Biden's passionate address from Philadelphia, Joe Scarborough, co-host of MSNBC's Morning Joe asked Deutsch how Democrats are doing with just two months to go until the 2022 midterms in which they will be defending narrow majorities in both houses of Congress.
“They’re doing better than they’ve been. They finally got it right. You know, literally, stay single-minded right now,” Deutsch said. “Biden laid out the Democratic platform into the midterms and into 2024. It’s there.
“ … Basically, they took Trump’s branding and did a branding judo arm and put it right back on top of them,” Deutsch added. “‘Okay, Trump, you own the Republican Party? God bless. It is your party. This is what the Republicans stand for, it's the MAGA party.' And I think that Biden really, really laid it out.
“The Democrats have to just stay in this lane. It’s there. It’s been put out there. Do not stray from it. The playbook is there, and it is single-minded and it trumps every other argument the Republicans can come up with,” he added.
