UPDATE: TRUMP IN DC WATCH
Fmr president plays down unexpected appearance as arrest conjecture continues
Donald Trump is working hard to tamp down what has become rampant speculation across social media over the past 24 hours or so as the former president landed in Washington DC for a surprise arrival.
And despite his outward efforts to project a sense of normalcy Monday, unbridled supposition that Trump still faced what one prominent YouTuber described as the potential for being “arrested or indicted imminently.”
Trump's arrival in the nation's capital has caught so much attention precisely because it had not been expected and images of the former president caught de-planing at DC's Dulles International Airport seem to show a much more disheveled Trump than what he usually tries to project.
Early speculation had focused on the possibility that Trump was back in Washington over either health care at Walter Reed Medical Center, or due to his ever-mounting legal troubles.
However, he very quickly tried to make it appear perfectly normal as he headed to his golf club in the DC suburbs of Virginia.
Trump, himself, attempted to portray it as just more work.
“Working today @TrumpWashingtonDC on the Potomac River. What an incredible place!” he posted on his TruthSocial network, which was quickly reposted to other social media as well.
However, prominent left/Democratic podcaster and YouTuber David Pakman opened his Monday program with continuing the Trump-in-DC story.
“There is now speculation that Donald Trump is in Washington DC, and may be getting arrested or indicted imminently,” Pakman said, adding, “Now, it is speculative, but the speculation is based on a previously unannounced, seemingly last-minute trip that Donald Trump made to Washington DC last night.”
Pakman also noted that “a number of very strange things” in video captured of Trump's arrival, including what appears to be a bottle of ketchup, “which is an extraordinarily strange thing for a former president to be carrying.”
“But it could be a 'MAGA' hat folded up,” the YouTuber added.
