WASHINGTON WATCH: Give Nancy Pelosi The Presidential Medal of Freedom
And give her daughter an Emmy Award while you're at it
Just one more completely baseless and untrue right-wing talking point, embarrassingly debunked on live television.
For 20 months, Donald Trump's partisans have been lying — straight up lying to their fellow Americans because they think we're that stupid — by falsely claiming that it was not only House Speaker Nancy Pelosi's sole responsibility to secure the US Capitol Building as Trump's domestic terrorist mob attacked it on January 6, 2021 — but that she somehow was derelict in that duty, that day.
Sorry, you traitorous MAGA idiots, but not only was your blatant little lie totally undone Thursday by the House select committee investigating the events surrounding the January 6 insurrection, but in doing so Nancy Pelosi was elevated to the status of badass national hero willing to take on Donald Trump — but the proof of which is footage shot by none other than documentary filmmaker, Alexandra Pelosi, the House speaker's daughter.
Just as this tweet is so accurately captioned, we see Speaker Pelosi making the important, grown-up phone calls Trump was apparently physically and personally incapable of making.
We see that her concern, rightly, remains focused on personal safety in the face of the unprecedented attack by Trump's cowardly and disgustingly unamerican, sub-human goon squad.
Even more, we see Pelosi's fight up, as we see her unvarnished and — quite frankly, refreshing — approach to the worthless sack of dog excrement which is the former president.
The speaker's chief of staff, Terri McCullough, updates her boss by saying that she's been told that Trump likely won't be coming over to the Capitol himself.
To which Pelosi quite honestly — and rightly — responds, “I hope he comes, I’m going to punch him out ... I’m going to punch him out, I’m going to go to jail, and I’m going to be happy.”
And all of this extraordinary footage comes courtesy of Pelosi's daughter, Alexandra, who is well-known for a string of acclaimed documentaries and who happened to be on hand with her mother that day for the certification of Democrat Joe Biden as the next president of the United States.
This Twitter user, I think, sums up how we all feel when he posted, “Truly want to applaud @SpeakerPelosi daughter Alexandra Pelosi who could have left the Capitol on Jan 6th but stayed by her moms side and kept recording. Badass like her mom.”
CNN said that it would air full, 40-minute video taken by Alexandra Pelosi of congressional leaders from January 6, 2021, Thursday evening.
That only means one thing: the Pelosi footage should be eligible for an Emmy Award.
So it's time to laud both these Pelosi women for their respective contributions on January 6.
Give Speaker Pelosi the Presidential Medal of Freedom.
Today.
Tomorrow.
Right away.
Let Speaker Pelosi and her heroism restore the luster the presidential freedom medal lost when Trump handed it to that ridiculously flaccid and undeserving Rush Limbaugh.
And give Alexandra Pelosi every Emmy Award to which she is entitled, for what is — quite simply — the most jaw-droppingly remarkable news footage in years.
