‘We’re Not Eating Cats’: Walz, Supporters Dunk on Trump and Vance at Michigan Rally
Republicans suffer humiliation for their bizarre references to Americans and their pets
It’s not only the nation’s late-night comedians jabbing at Donald Trump and his vice-presidential pick.
Vice President Kamala Harris’ own running mate squarely dunked on his Republican opponents at a rally this week in Michigan — with the crowd of supporters joining in, for good measure.
Walz and his roomful of supporters at a campaign event in the battleground of Grand Rapids, Mich., all mocked the Republican ticket following Trump’s humiliating debate performance Tuesday night.
Specifically, Walz, the governor of Minnesota, poked his counterpart — Trump running mate Sen JD Vance — for Vance’s many slights against childless women, calling them “childless cat ladies.”
Walz also was riffing on pop star Taylor Swift’s bombshell endorsement of the Harris-Walz ticket, which she signed as a “childless cat lady.”
“One final thank you. Thank you to my fellow cat owner Taylor Swift,” Walz said, to cheering and applause. “She’s not here. But let me just say, Vice President — I know you’re all waiting. ‘Oh, wait a bait and switch this guy left on us.’ Look, Vice President Harris and I couldn’t be more excited to have her support, really grateful, so honored.
“And look, look, it’s not as if I didn’t warn these guys a few months ago. You mess with cat people and you will find out,” Walz quipped. “You will find out. So, they did. Beautiful strategy there, picking on the cat people.”
Meanwhile, Walz’s crowd broke into chants of: “We’re not eating cats! We’re not eating cats! We’re not eating cats!”
That was the crowd dunking on Trump and his false, bizarre claims that immigrants in Springfield, Ohio, were eating their neighbors’ pets.
Trump has continued stubbornly to spread his falsehood about the cats despite being told plainly by moderators during the Tuesday debate that accusations of pet-eating were false.
Walz responded to the chants by telling the audience, “Oh, Michigan, we love you.”
