'We're Tired Of The Speeches!' Psaki Unloads on Republican Grandstanding On Immigration
"We’d like to partner on solutions and working together to address this problem that has not been partisan in the past,” press secretary says
Republicans have been attacking Joe Biden on the issue of immigration at the southern border of the United States since practically he was inaugurated back in January.
Peter Doocy, the White House correspondent for the right-wing Fox News, has been baiting White House press secretary Jen Psaki for days over Biden's supposed failure to have made a personal appearance on the border.
And this week, the White House has come under some of the fiercest criticism yet for its handling of Haitian migrants at an encampment at a border town in Texas.
By Friday, it was clear that Psaki had had her limit.
In response to a question in her daily briefing, she began by explaining Vice President Kamala Harris's involvement in addressing what are long-term efforts to deal with the root causes of irregular migration, but then added: “But again, as it relates to Haiti, as it relates to our broken immigration system, the clear step that needs to be taken is an immigration bill needs to pass Congress.
“It’s a broken system, one that is ineffective, one that is not moral in many cases at this point in time. It’s long overdue. There are a lot of Republicans out there giving speeches about how outraged they are about the situation at the border, not many who are putting forward solutions or steps that we could take,” Psaki said. “So, we’re a little tired of the speeches, we’d like to partner on solutions and working together to address this problem that has not been partisan in the past.”
